If there were girls on the island in "The Lord of The Flies"...
1. There would've been female characters (obviously)
2. The author probably wouldn't have had ralph and the other boys skinny dip in the lagoon.
3. The boys and girls might have split up into two different groups right off the bat depending on how many there were.
4. There might have been more order because men tend to become hostile or savage quicker than women.

red and yellow bird
The red and yellow bird on the first page of "The Lord of The Flies" symbolizes and foreshadows the signal fire and reoccurance of the colors red and yellow; as the bird is flying upward so are the flames throughout the book. One could also say that it might foreshadow the forest fire that is lit accidentally when Ralph won't move and the hunters light a fire too close to the forest.
